Ward One-derful Meeting

TBA

Untitled Document

Greetings and happy summer.

This month’s Ward meeting will be held at the end of the month on Thurs., June 30 rather than the usual 3rd Thursday of every month (due to travel and conflicting schedules with other City committee meetings this month).

As the COVID situation waxes and wanes, I’d like to get a sense of residents’ current preferences regarding in person vs. virtual (Zoom) Ward meetings.

Please complete this brief survey regarding your preference for in-person versus virtual (Zoom) First Ward meetings.

Thank you. Take First Ward Survey

 Meeting agenda:

  •  Update on the City Manager Search
  •  Safety Update
  •  Introduction of a Ward One-derful business/owner
  •  Fountain Square Update
  •  City Summer Events
  •  Downtown Developments
  •  And more…

Always feel free to email me at ckelly@cityofevanston.org with any topics you would like addressed at our Ward meeting and I will do my best to include it.

A more detailed agenda will be forthcoming along with the location after reviewing results from the above survey.

Special First Ward Meeting, Re: Relocation of Bookends & Beginnings

As many of you already know, the cherished and famous independent bookstore, Bookends & Beginnings, is being forced to move from its current location in Bookman’s Alley on Sherman Avenue. Owner, Nina Barrett, will be relocating her store into a lovely space on Orrington Avenue at the end of January 2023.

I’ve been working with Nina over the past year in an effort to ensure that Bookends continues to be a part of our business community. This independent bookstore is truly a gem and a community institution in Evanston.

I’m grateful for the many emails of support for Bookends & Beginnings that I’ve received over this last week. As a result of this outpouring of support and interest, I’ve decided to hold a short, informational ward meeting through Zoom on Thurs., Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. with Nina Barrett to share information and answer questions.

Please register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Together, we build a stronger community. As we all know, our small businesses matter.
