Clare has worked relentlessly for good development in the first ward and in Evanston and for affordable housing. Clare believes that affordable housing that genuinely meets community needs (those of low-income families’ and Evanston residents’) and aesthetic, appropriate, neighborhood conforming and enhancing development are not exclusive of each other. She’s written on the topic in a guest essay in the RoundTable. She will work to ensure that our zoning protects the integrity of our Evanston downtown space and of our small businesses and neighborhoods while appropriately supporting affordable housing.
